The Ten Toughest Questions about Hair Transplantation

1. Does it really work?

A)    YES!  The donor hair comes from the back of your own head, which is the best area to harvest. According to scientific studies, it is these follicles that grow forever.

B)    Hair transplantation has been around since 1959. Dr. Kohn has been performing hair transplantation surgery since 1980. As an active member of the ISHRS (International Society Of Hair Restoration Surgeons), he continuously updates his surgical technique and has the latest information on advanced medical procedures.

C)    The end result of a hair transplantation performed by Dr.Kohn and his expert staff is a permanent natural look.

2. Who performs the procedure?

Dr.Thomas Kohn performs the hair transplant procedure along with his expert staff. He is specifically trained in hair transplantation surgery. Dr. Kohn is a certified dermatologist who studied in Canada and the U.S.. He also trained in hair transplant surgery with the best U.S. specialists in the field.

3. Why choose Dr. Thomas Kohn?

Dr.Thomas Kohn and his expert staff have performed state of the art hair transplant procedures since 1980. They participate in the International Society Of Hair Restoration yearly conferences. Recently, Dr.Kohn demonstrated hair transplantations at seminars in Spain, Brazil and Greece. Dr.Kohn treats patients from all over the world.

4. Will this hurt?

Although the majority of our patients are quite comfortable both during and after their hair transplant procedure, occasionally a patient says he had some pain. As you would expect, local anesthetics are used during the procedure; and we supply patients with medication to use after the procedure, if needed.

5. How will I look afterwards?

Thanks to the skill of our hair transplant physicians, the healing sites in the transplanted are virtually imperceptible. Any scar in the donor area is covered by your existing hair.

6. How much will it cost?

You would be surprised how affordable it is. Cost of a hair transplant surgery is based upon the extent of your hair loss. It is after a personal consultation that we will be able to better assess your needs in order to map the best surgical approach and give you a price estimate. We accept direct payment, all major credit cards and financing is available. Also, we don't charge per graph, we charge per size of hair transplant session. There are small, medium, large and mega session prices. The price is based upon several variables such as colour, curl, calibre and density (volume) of hair, and special sights such as eyebrows and scars.

7. Will I need more than one procedure?

Yes, in most situations because hair loss is a continuous process. Most patients require a second procedure in order to achieve more density.

8. Can I have any hairline I want?

Yes, within reason. There is a certain limit per individual. Transplanted hair is permanent. Therefore, the doctor uses his vast experience in designing an appropriate hairline. This is based on the age and severity of thinning or balding and quality of the donor area. One has to think of the future when deciding on the proper frontal hairline.

N.B. A family history of the extent of baldness may also help decide where to place the hairline.

9. Is this work guaranteed?

Yes, transplanted hair always grows. We give you full pre-op and post-op instructions. In addition, if any grafts did not grow they will be added “free of charge” on your next hair transplant session.

10. Do you use laser in the hair transplantation procedure?

Dr. Kohn does not feel that the laser benefits patients. It can damage healthy hair follicles, have a negative impact on scalp elasticity, and in general, slows down the healing process. the use of lasers in hair restoration has diminished greatly in the last few years.
